SIDEWALK — During today’s nor’easter, a lady walking on the sidewalk opened her umbrella when it started raining and accidentally took off into the sky like Mary Poppins after a gust of wind caught underneath the umbrella panels and whipped her off the ground.
"It was hands down one of the coolest things that I’ve ever seen," said resident Randy Buttons as he looked for the woman sailing in the sky via binoculars.
Randy went on to say "She tried to put up a fight by attempting to close the umbrella a few times but it was too late, the wind had the grip of an iron claw on it. I almost felt bad but then I remembered she yelled at my dog last week for stepping on her lawn."
Another resident Sharla Stevins also witnessed the Mary Poppins-esque event saying "Like a kite, she soared over a few houses before I lost track of her due to the fog, she must be at least 5 miles away by now. I didn’t get a chance to catch her name before she blew away but I did wave and say 'looks fun, better hang on!' Again, I have to admit, it was pretty cool seeing her float off like that!"
